Join us in celebrating Earth Day with town-wide activities in Killingworth on Saturday, April 26! It’s a day dedicated to giving back to our planet and bringing our community together. From nature walks to educational activities and family-friendly fun, there’s something for everyone. Let’s work together to keep Killingworth beautiful and make a positive impact on the environment. Come out, get involved, and celebrate Earth Day the local way!
9:00 am – 11:00 am at Parmelee Farm
- Remove Vines, Save Trees – An educational hands on workshop Identifying and removing invasive vines. Wear protective clothing, bring clippers Meet at the schoolhouse.
9:30 am – 2:00 pm at Killingworth Library
- 9:30 am – 11:00 am – Sustainable Living Workshop, Ask a Master Gardener & Learn About the Seed Catalog
- 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Plant a raised garden bed & go on a scavenger hunt*
- 11:30 am – 12:30 pm – Intergenerational Recreational Earth Day Bingo!
- 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm – Nature’s Best Hope with Douglas Tallamy (video)
- Learn how to make your property sustainable
10:00 – 2:00pm at Running Brook Farms
- Join the Evergreen Garden Club and make pine cone bird feeders
- Visit the Killingworth Conservation Commission and Killingworth Land Trust table to learn about conservation efforts in Killingworth
10:00 am – 2:00pm at Lovers Lane Farm
- Take a Nature Hike and then stop into the workshop to make a mosaic out of your finds!
10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Shared Harvest Garden at Parmelee Farm*
- Come see what the town garden is all about
- The garden supplies fresh produce at no charge to the Helping Hands Food Pantry all summer
11:30 am – 1:00 pm Recycling at the Town Transfer Station
- Stop in to learn about what is recyclable
10:00 am -4:00 pm Activities at Deer Lake Camp
