This scholarship fund is in memory of Kelly Allard Leach, a longtime KWO member who took the initiative as an adult learner in order to further her education and change her career path.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Woman or person who identifies as a woman
- Resides or works in Haddam, Higganum, or Killingworth CT
- Is a non-traditional student, such as:
- Did not graduate high school and are working on obtaining their General Educational Development degree (GED)
- Did not attend college or a vocational program after high school and would like to continue their education
- Attended college but did not finish an undergraduate program
- Has a degree but is working on changing careers
Scholarship requests can be for various reasons, such as tuition, fees, books, a laptop, transportation to and from class, and childcare during class time. The amount of the scholarship award is typically between $100 and $500 and is paid directly to the student.
Applications accepted year-round, with award decisions made at the end of each calendar quarter.
